I wish for a place where I could go, 'cos everything here moves so slow... and my friends can be my family and they can be my company and I'll take them to a party and we'll have fun. ~ Lisa Loeb

Seoul Journey

I love the people, the fashion, the mountains and the food! It is kinda a huge dampener to have to come into work on Friday just after 6 days of r&r but its nice to see that the carousel is almost ready (view from my office window) and I am looking forward to the fire drill which is said to take place in approximately 1.5 hours time. Some of us are planning on getting a manicure. Also, there is the prospect of a new classic black VW beetle!! :) Just a few of my favorite things... Meanwhile, its back to offering memorandums, facility agreements and term sheets.... my heart and mind is a thousand miles away.

A Korean Obsession

I'm hooked... I can't stop watching these. Doesn't help that my parents just bought a 19-inch flat screen plasma tv... 'cos my mom's hooked too. Ok but I started it. The Koreans are like super unrealistic! I love it! The plots are so typical! The leading guy is always mad-rich and super-confident to the point of chauvinistic, while the leading actress is usually sweet, decently clothed and completely unaware, while the supporting actress will be a total bitch (complete with perfected evil stare and total lack of shame). They are not a fan of subtlety clearly. Of course, there's also the 4-person love triangle. Good girl likes rich guy, but bad guy likes good girl and bad girl likes rich guy. So I finished watching Lovers in Paris over like 8 months... and now thanks to my mom, am hooked on a new series - Smile Again. Am planning a trip to Korea soon... and will visit all the places where the dramas were filmed... (found a link! hehe!&nb...

London Stopover

On the way from Brugges I took the tube to London to visit Jas who's now studying there... among the usual touristy things, I also bravely attended half of a futures and options seminar at LBS whereupon I remembered that numbers and financial concepts were not quite my thing. Did a fair bit of running around with Jas in the afternoon in Chinatown and the Art Museum etc. I saw Van Gogh's sunflower. It is very good. The weather was crap - it was like negative 1 degrees. Which gave me good cause to wear the new wedge boots I bought in Brugges and to justify that expenditure :) *hehe* In any case, Jas took heaps of photos for me... (which made my 2-day stay in London quite a well-documented affair) including photos of every starbucks that we passed by, just for kicks. We also managed to catch Mary Poppins which was very good... although for some reason I fell asleep momentarily towards the ending. Also, got food poisoning as a result of having a meal in an Italian restaurant in Nottinghill...

Brugges

Tucked away in a hidden part of Brussels, Belgium lies a quiet little city that time forgot... a place where chocolate shops line the cobbled streets, while horses pass by with their carriages and horsemen in smart uniform and high hats. And in any shop, deli, cafe, patisserie, hotel, restaurant and bar, you will be greeted four times in four different languages - english, german, dutch and french. I was also told I had to try the waffles in Brugges - yes, they are truly the best in the world. Lightly sugared with cinemon and piping hot! :) And swans grace the lake flanked with verdant pastures on one side, and a sleepy little beguinage on the other... It seems as if everywhere you turn in Brugges, you will find a postcard-perfect sight just for your quiet, viewing pleasure. :) Welcome to the old

The first one to say I do...

The first of the girls finally walked down that aisle and said I do to the man of her dreams... we were so excited for her :) At the same time, it marks another milestone in our lives. To me, the first milestone was sitting in the passenger seat of friend's car. This is the second. The third will be of course the baby shower... let's see who that'll be. Definitely not me! Had to sing for her walk-in... was exciting and scary! The wedding song was Feels Like Home by Chantel Kreviazuk :) I love the lyrics. It will be mine as well I think, if she's okay with sharing... haha. Congrats again FJ! You were a beautiful bride...! :)

Bangkok - Day Trip

I was pretty excited to finally get to go on a business trip. I thought you know, we're staying at Sukhamvit, the least they could do would be to let me browse the Club 21 downstairs and those new Prada products on display... alas. I was stuck in horridly boring meetings all day, and what's worse, I had to wake up at 530am TWICE in a row to catch 2 absurdly early morning flights, and I am currently in the office NOW... wilting away. In any case, the rooms were nice... aha ;) That was some consolation. Ooh! And I really felt like a little girl in a candy store when they told me I could keep the latest edition of the Vogue magazine which they distributed in Business Class. Hahaha.

Honestly impressed with my camera... The sony ericsson k800i kicks butt! I couldn't believe how well my pics came out! Had an awesome time in Dayang... the fishing trip itself was a lot more adventurous than I had anticipated. I blame it all on the company we kept... reckless, foolhardy thirty-year-olds bent on risking their lives to preserve their youth! ;) E.g. among other things, searching out sharks, and tussling sailfish. Haha! As for the boat rides, all I can say is I'm gonna pack my own seasick pills next time! :p It was an amazing weekend... awesome company, good times :) thanks

Jazz Covers

Girl from Ipanema is a cover I did a while back with a talented guitarist friend of mine who's just flown back to NZ, Callum McNeil!! :p And Come Away has yours truly on piano, and vocals. To be honest, I put up Come Away, then took it down again 'cos I don't really like how my experimental polyphonic harmonies came out sounding... *alas* :p Like I said, in my quest for originality, the song came out sounding more Enya than Eva Cassidy. But just so you know I've been working on my music, I thought I'd share it all...

When I say... "I am a Christian" ~ Maya Angelou

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say.. "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian!"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.
